Did you know that there are over 26 bones, 33 joints and over 100 muscles, ligaments and tendons in the human feet! (Check out the image, pretty crazy!) One quarter of human bones are found solely in our feet. They are our roots, they keep us standing tall and give us balance. We have sensors in our feet that send signals to our brain on what muscles to contract to keep your body upright. At HôB we bounce barefoot, which directly activates those sensors to improve our balance and stability.
Bouncing with an emphasis on different parts of our feet can impact different parts of the body. For example, bouncing on your heels helps to stretch your Achilles tendon (for all the fab ladies out there, this helps to relieve the effects of wearing high heels). Bouncing with an emphasis on your toes will help to strengthen your ankles and calves. Bellicon claims that bouncing helps with all the twists and turns throughout your day and will even help you navigate slippery surfaces (hello, winter!), as we all know in Montreal, this is a skill you DEFINITELY need (www.bellicon.com).
Take your balance and flexibility to the next level by experiencing a BôGA class at HôB. BôGA, essentially is a combination of bounce and yoga. What better way to improve balance, flexibility and coordination than to combine two forms of fitness whose primary focus are those components. In BôGA, you focus on stretches, flowing movements and jumping sequences that involve a twist of some dance. Because of the malleable surface of the mat, you will experience yoga poses that allow your body to engage in a different way than traditional yoga.

Also, it is important to keep in mind that people find balance in different ways. Remember, we have support bars to help you with your stability and balance during your HôB class. Soon enough you will be bouncing without the bar!
